Organic and Dynamic Group Activities
Our CHENM members communicate regularly through our Facebook group. When the weather is nice, families will meet at the splash pad, city park, or other location for an awesome time of fellowship. Quite often families plan field trips and invite everyone! As of recently, we’ve been to the pumpkin patch, the zoo, and future plans are to attend the Space Center in Huntsville, AL.
CHENM Honor Societies
Option 1: CHS (CHENM Honor Society) This honor society is sponsored by Christian Home Educators of Northeast Mississippi with the intention of recognizing and encouraging leadership, service, and scholarship among our homeschool students. Members will attend monthly meetings and participate in monthly service projects. Members who graduate with CHENM will be permitted to purchase and wear the Honor Cord.
Applicants are required to be in grades 9-12 and have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. They must also have performed at or above the 75th percentile on a nationally normed test such as the IOWA or Stanford or have a minimum ACT score of 23 or SAT score of 1590.
Option 2: Eta Sigma Alpha – Kappa Pi Chapter (ESA) This honor society is sponsored by the Eta Sigma Alpha National Homeschool Honor Society organization. According to their mission statement found on etasigmaalpha.com, “The purpose of Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among homeschool students. To achieve this purpose, Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society shall provide opportunities for the development of leadership and service. Eta Sigma Alpha shall encourage the development of an intellectual climate that will stimulate the exchange of ideas and ideals, foster scholarship, and promote academic excellence.”
Since members who qualify for ESA have also met the qualifications for CHS, ESA members will have dual membership in both ESA and CHS. Members will attend monthly meetings and participate in monthly service projects alongside the CHS members. Members who graduate with CHENM will be permitted to purchase and wear the ESA Honor Shawl and CHENM Honor Cord.
Applicants are required to be in grades 9-12 and have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. They must also have performed at or above the 90 th percentile on a nationally normed test such as the IOWA or Stanford or have a minimum ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1800 or PSAT score of 180.

Note: A student who is already a member of CHS who later earns a higher test score, thereby meeting the minimum requirements for ESA, needs only to submit the new test scores to become of member of ESA in addition to CHS.
